Which tutorial, you ask? I’ve actually posted it already, in fact!

Finished the second design. I like this one much more.

Box template for a package design assignment made in Illustrator. This time I’m redesigning a package for Chick-O-Sticks:

Since they usually come in a wrapper in full-sized sticks, I decided to make a box for multiple sticks instead. The template is based off the Pocky box, which I’m using as inspiration/reference.

I’ll be making my own changes to the template as needed; I plan on doing something a little different with the shape of the flap on the box.
In the meantime, I am sick. x___x|||| Caught a head cold, and woke up with my neck in a kink so bad I can’t move it right very well. Feeling better, but it still hurts even just by sitting here. But, that’s probably because I’ve been bending over my measurements, haha. Glad I didn’t go to work though; it would’ve been miserable. orz

Poster commission for an upcoming event a friend is hosting at a local press. She pretty much left me with little to go on, just to make a poster with the info on it, so I’m sure I’ll be changing something after she sees it.
EDIT: Whoops, some things got blown up, fixed.

Thumbnails for a rebranding of a Jell-O vanilla pudding box. We’re to take the marketing direction from adults to children. We had to come up with three different paths; my group, the vanilla group, came up with “Learning Tools” with simple shapes and colors, “Sponsorship” with content from stuff like Spongebob or in this case iCarly, and “Interactivity” where I personally decided to use a mascot.

I’m leaning more towards the mascot path, since on at a first glance Jell-O doesn’t seem to use a mascot at all (there was mention of a Jell-O girl, but…I suggest you don’t Google that). I wanted to come up with a bear/rabbit character, inspired by both Pokemon designs and Takashi Murakami. Ehhhh, but we’ll see what my professor, who is playing the “client”, has to say tomorrow morning. Lol.

First time using 3D effect in Illustrator.
I hated it.
ANYWAY ignore the gray border, that’s a reminder for where my bleed is. Still gotta put in the rest of the text, keep tweaking colors etc. I’m probably gonna pay for doing this in RGB instead of CMYK but UGH I hate working with orange in CMYK on the computer because I never know if it’s the RIGHT orange (and Straylight’s color = orange, therefore orange is a must).
And yup, combo of Photoshop and Illustrator at work here. Mostly working in Photoshop though. Hence the fake bleed.

tintination:

Some slides from a presentation where I was asked to talk about my design process and experience as a designer. In addition to these clichéd tips, I talked about how to quickly solve common/specific design job-related issues I’ve wrestled with in the past (some solutions from which I, admittedly, hadn’t thought up at the time — this is me making up for it by at least making the hindsight!insight put to good use).

Truly, to have been given roughly an hour and thirty minutes to pretend for a bit that I know what I’m doing every time I make something design-related (as opposed to the usual fruits of boredom I litter onto this little blog), is the most flattering thing you could ever offer a person so underqualified you could have gotten a monkey to proxy and no one would’ve noticed the difference.

Well, this is all pretty much what my design professors hammered into us, so I think you’re on the right track, lol.
