Surprise WIP ballads!!

lenoir-whittlethorn:

My best friend, Ekqo, has a fantasy story going on called “The King’s Demon”. I am totally excited to see the story and I even asked at one point to do some writing, but was flatly rejected (which is understandable).

But she didn’t say anything about songs. ;) I was at work, bored out of my mind and suddenly I was struck with inspiration. I was motivated by the “Misty Mountain” song in the Hobbit trailer and the fact that Ekqo recently answered some deep questions about her story! So here we go!

(NOTE: these are Works In Progress, meaning I haven’t finished tweaking them!)

The King’s Demon ( main ballad sung by male bards)

They say it came

O’er the mountains High

Our lord’s own spectre

Born of blazin’ sands

To render men’s hearts

Asunder

Our clever king

used his steel wit

Tricked that demon

an unholy knight

By its chained hands

our land is free

Only by its hands

we are free

Dark Morning Star (sung by female bards)

Dark morning star

Eclipse our shining lord

Raise your bloodied sword

Take all of our scars

The sands birthed you

The sun fathered you

O heartless Shade

Rise, for our king

Your master above all

Demands your existence

Rise, Dark Morning Star

Eclipse our beloved lord

Defend him, heartless shade

Raise your bloodied sword!
